Woodwind Quintet

Oakville Chamber Orchestra

The Oakville Chamber Orchestra woodwind quintet will present a fun and engaging presentation to introduce JK- Grade 1 students to the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn. The presentation will be interactive, keeping in mind the short attention span of these youngest students.  Not only will they have a chance to participate and engage but they will hear music that is familiar – for example, perhaps music from Frozen, PJ Masks, Paw Patrol, Storybots, Toy Story or the classic, Baby Shark. Through the music, presenter’s explanations, and visuals such as PowerPoint, students will be introduced to some basic musical concepts such as dynamics (loud vs. soft), tempo (fast vs. slow), pitch (high vs. low) and tone colour (sounds made by various instruments). Students will leave excited about the wonderful world of music.  Susan Edmonds, principal flautist of OCO will be coordinating the presentation.
